“Art as an instrument for social inclusion” is the motto for EDP Foundation Public Arts Programme.
Aimed at areas with low population density all over the country, this project encourages access to art and involving the population in new cultural experiences, as well as stimulating local development through bringing public artworks to rural areas.
Curated by EDP Foundation, artists are invited to develop a collaborative process with the local population, encouraging them to take part in community meetings to discuss the artistic intervention proposals to be performed in public spaces (building facades, walls, EDP electricity transformation stations, etc.)
The project foresees partnerships with official institutions and local associations connected with the arts. These partners are involved from the initial stages in the project until its completion, with the goal of supporting the promotion of art programmes at a local level.
